List of MAC/NYX dupes!

So I found some lists of MAC/NYX dupes! There are sooooo many!!!!

Review: NYX Eyeshadow Trio - Golden/Rust/Walnut Bronze (+ MAC dupes)

Hey everyone!

First of all, I wanted to say that I'm really sorry for the lack of posts. It was my first semester in college and I was just getting used to things. Now Winter Break is here, and my plan was to write a lot of posts, but now I'm leaving for New York. However, I figured that I should at least do a couple before I leave.

So today, I'm going to review the NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Golden/Rust/Walnut Bronze. It consists of three warm shades perfect for an autumn look! Two of the shades are very wearable for an everyday look while the other is a bit more dramatic, but perfect for the crease and to just add a pop of color.

The colors are very pigmented! I bought this at ULTA for $8.39, but I used a coupon and bought some other stuff so I got it for cheaper. You can find these three shades in the NYX single eyeshadows, but they cost about $6 each, so it would be better to buy the trios. Some people have said that the quality of the NYX singles are better, but I really see no difference. These shades are perfect as an all-over lid color. Also, the colors are perfect for a Bollywood/Desi bridal look! There is very minimal fallout and with a primer, the colors won't budge at all!

Here are the swatches:

I used the NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone underneath the swatches. (I shall be reviewing that product soon!)

So now for the most amazing news ever! These three eyeshadows have are comparable to some colors of MAC eyeshadows!

- NYX Rust = MAC Cranberry (They look exactly the same!)
- NYX Golden = MAC Amber Lights (Again, pretty much the same!)
- NYX Walnut Bronze = MAC Twinks (a little lighter though) or MAC Antiqued

So I'm not so sure about the last one. I don't own any MAC eyeshadows, but I did check these out when I went to the MAC store. I'm going to check out MAC Twinks and MAC Antiqued again to see if it could really be called a dupe. If anyone has these colors, do let me know if they're close in comparison. I shall keep you all updated on more dupes and let me know if you know of any more!

So that's all for now folks!

Do let me know if you own any of the NYX trios and in what colors!

ULTA Eyeshadow - Wink Silver Palette

Hola again!

I've been meaning to do a post on this for a while and now, I think the time has come. I bought two of these palettes from ULTA a couple months back. I used a coupon a ended up getting them for $3.50 each! The palette I'm going to review first has more cool colors in it. The other palette has more neutrals in it. Each palette has 9 colors in it. Basically, I got 18 colors for $7.00

Oh, and it came with two eyeshadow brushes, which I guess ULTA made specifically for this palette. It's pretty pointless, but I've worked with it. They're not even eyeshadow brushes. It's just a bunch of bristles put together. Refer to the pictures to see what I mean. They don't pick up eyeshadow like a real eyeshadow brush should.

At first, when I got this, I HATED IT! The eyeshadows just seemed so chalky and powdery (and they still kind of are, but not as bad). For some odd reason, after constant use of these eyeshdaows, the colors became less chalky, less powdery, and more pigmented. I have no idea how that happened! The eyeshadows are soft so you will get fallout. Most of the eyeshadows in the ULTA palettes are just like this, so if you're planning on buying an ULTA eyeshadow palette, then refer to this post as a guide.

Nevertheless, I love this palette now! The neutrals palette is even better and I had a better experience with it as far as pigmentation and chalkiness. I shall be reviewing that at a later time.

The palette isn't bad for $3.50 :)

These 3 colors were the chalkiest out of all of them. The greens, however, have improved over time (again, no idea how it happened). I JUST got the pale yellow color to work right before I took these pictures. There's a story behind it! So I was at the mall one day, and some guy stopped me to show me these really cool eyeshadows. They were basically like MAC pigments, but you could use them as a powder eyeshadow, cream eyeshadow, lipstick/lipgloss, and blush. Basically, you just had to add water or Vaseline in them. So months later, when I get these eyeshadows, I think to myself, let me try that Vaseline trick. Instead, it didn't work and the pale yellow eyeshadow had this solidified layer of Vaseline on it. So just yesterday, when I was taking these pictures, I went on a mission to remove that greasy layer. I took the end of the eyeshadow brush and just scraped it really hard and Voila! I finally got the color to work. But now the problem is that, I don't know what to do with that color. Anyone want to help me? Can it be used as a highlight?

The light blue was also chalky, but it isn't anymore :) The rest of the colors are fine!

These three are the most pigmented - purple, grayish silver, and black.

Whew! That was a long post!
Will get back with the other palette!

ULTA Eyeshadow - Sandstone

Hola!

Recently, I got a free eyeshadow sample from ULTA (They gave me a full sized eyeshadow!). The color is called Sandstone. It looks kind of silvery brown if you touch it by the finger, but in the package, it's much more brown.

It's a warm brown with a nice frost to it. It can almost pass for a taupe/beige color. The pigmentation is really nice! I'm not too fond of the ULTA eyeshadow when it comes to their palettes because they tend to be chalky. However, the single eyeshadows are really pigmented and not chalky at all.

It can be worn alone as a light wash of color or can be applied with a smokey eye look for the day time. Also, it would look nice with a dark brown or deep plum in the creases.

ULTA eyeshadows don't crease on me, however, some people do complain. But c'mon, it's an eyeshadow. And the price is great! They're about $7.00. Right now, ULTA has a special going - Buy 3, Get 3 Free. That's 6 eyeshadow for $21. And the container is huge!!!! A MAC eyeshadow is 1.5 grams. An ULTA eyeshadow is 3.8 grams. Huge difference!

The one thing that annoys me about ULTA's new packaging is how they engrave the word ULTA everywhere in the eyeshadow which means less eyeshadow for me. Arghh!!! It's so annoying!

Has anyone else tried ULTA eyeshadows?

Jewelry Haul (+ some gifts!)

Bonjour everyone!

Well recently, I bought some jewelry and received some as Eid gifts, so I decided to show you guys what I got!

I got these from Macy's (department store). I found them in the clearance section for only about $6!

These are from Forever 21. My sister actually got these as part of an Eid gift. And well, I happened to look at the price tag and they were only for a $1.50! How cute! (http://www.forever21.com/)
My best friend got me these from Charlotte Russe. They are basically hoop earrings. That store has some really nice jewelery for really low prices! (http://www.charlotterusse.com)

One of my neighbors who just came back from Pakistan got me these from somewhere in Karachi. Unfortunately, I threw away the packing so I don't remember the name of the store. And I wore these with my Eid clothes!

I got this from JcPenny (department store). Again, I don't remember the company because I threw away the packing. The necklace and earrings I bought separate. They don't match perfectly, but when I wore it together, you couldn't even tell that they don't go together.

This last set is my absolute favorite! Basically, the necklace has a faux leather strap and you can adjust and tie it around your neck. I got it from Kohl's and it was by Vera Wang. It cost me around $15. You can check out more jewelry by Vera Wang here:

So that was all! Hope you liked it!

Avon beComing double up eyeshadow and liner duet - Sugar Daddy

Aloha!

Here I am with my first review.

Well I'm going to start off with some of the older makeup I have. And the one I'm about to review is pretty old and I think is discontinued (unless you can find it online). Nevertheless, this has to be one of my favorite eyeliners so I'm going to review it (for practice, I guess).

So basically, this product is an eyeshadow and liner duet by Avon beComing. The color is called Sugar Daddy.

Basically, there are two sides-- one is an eyeliner and the other is a cream eyeshadow.

I'm not too fond of the cream eyeshadow as something to use all over the lid. I only like it if it's used as base because it really makes the color of the eyeshadow pop!
Even though both things are meant to be different, I use them both as eyeliners underneath the bottom lash line / lower lid. The dark purple is especially nice for a smokey look! Both sides are extremely creamy and glide onto your eyes smoothly!

Here are the swatches:

(The dark purple is super pigmented!)

(Left-eyeshadow, Right- eyeliner)

So what do you think?
How was that for my first review?

(Oh and sorry for the crappy pictures. I'll try better lighting next time!)
